Director of Family Promise Attends CROP Rally

Shanna Goldstein, Director of Family Promise of Monmouth County attended our Kick Off Rally this past Monday to share information on one of our local partners. Family Promise is a nonprofit organization uniting the religious community in Monmouth County to provide shelter, meals, transportation, professional case management services and other assistance to homeless families. It was established in 2001, with a mission to provide help, hope and a safe haven to dispossessed parents and their children in cooperation with a network of interfaith congregations, while advocating innovative solutions to chronic homelessness. To accomplish its mission, the agency uses existing community resources, including the facilities and volunteers pledged by 11 churches who comprise the network. Each host congregation furnishes overnight lodging and meals for three to five families for one week every 11 weeks on a rotating schedule. Since 2001, FPMC has served over 140 families, consisting of over 180 adults and over 240 children. Family Promise is the only shelter for homeless families in Monmouth County. CROP Walk committee members: Judy and Dave Reichard and Janie and George Schildge volunteer as overnight hosts at Middletown United Methodist Church. Donations, volunteers, help with transportation, hygiene items, day center supplies and fundraising help are always needed. For more information call 732-495-1050 or visit www.familypromisemc.org
