CROP Walks Help to Feed The Need

This winning banner from our banner contest was from Ranney School. In simple terms: We Feed the Need. The Red Bank CROP Walk annual food collection is a major effort to help stock the shelves at the local pantries and organizations that work daily to feed families in need in our own local Monmouth County communities.

The past few years our totals have increased to over 13,000 lbs. of food - collected, sorted and distributed all within a few hours on the day of the walk.  The Varley family, the Footes, Brother Ralph, Tim Sewnig of CBA, and student leaders have all been long time volunteers with the food collection. This year they cut the ribbon at the start. The boys from Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft work with the speed of light to help unload, sort, pack, and load the food into vehicles when representatives from local pantries arrived to pick up the bags of food.

Our CROP Walkers brought in 13,175 lbs of food. Rice: 5,225 lbs., Beans: 3,350 lbs. Peanut Butter: 1,250 lbs. and Other: 3,350lbs.

Rumson Country Day School led the way with the greatest number of lbs. collected...but we'll talk about that more in another post!
Food is delivered and is unloaded by volunteers.
All the food is sorted and counted.
Before the walk is finished representatives from local partners and pantries
leave with vehicles filled with food to help them fill the shelves at their pantries.
Thank you to Shoprite of Middletown for donating the bags!
