Reporting Good News on CROP Walk #36

We walk each year in rain or shine and 2016 gave us a classic and beautiful autumn day as we stepped out to raise funds to end hunger. We thank everyone that came out to show support for hungry neighbors. From young to all, with friends, family, dogs, walkers, strollers, and wagons, we took a Sunday stroll together to raise awareness and to widen our circle of caring. T-shirt sponsors, local partners, volunteers, and walkers from various faith groups, schools, and community groups walked together in a common goal to reach out to help hungry neighbors in Monmouth County through our 15 local partner programs and around the world through Church World Service Global.
Walkers at the start listened to a trio of women pastors from three different denominations who encouraged walkers to bear witness and to take action to help end hunger. The start ribbon was cut by the Bradley family, who walks in Memory of their son Chris each year.
Photos from this glorious day are coming in from volunteer photographers who helped to document the day and all the activities including music provided "The Wag" from Musicians on a Mission who voted to donate their time and musical talents to Red Bank CROP Walk.
Walkers again surpassed our goal for this year's food collection bringing in 13,000 lbs. of peanut butter, rice and beans which was distributed to two dozen Monmouth County pantries.
Walkers from all groups and ages came together to make new friends, and to support those they may never meet. The smiles we saw told the story about how good it feels when you know you're doing the right thing in community with others. We walked in solidarity with those who walk for all necessities. They walk for water, food, shelter, education, and safety all of which we are grateful to have so easily in our daily lives.
Thanks for all your ongoing efforts to help us reach our 2016 goals. Please continue to collect pledged donations which can be mailed to PO Box 8022 Red Bank, NJ 07701. Online donations will also be open through December 31st. https://www.crophungerwalk.org/redbanknj/
