The 42nd Red Bank CROP HUNGER WALK went on Sunday, Oct. 16, on WORLD FOOD DAY! We registered hundreds of walkers and checked off 75 online teams, and we had great success getting back on the sidewalks together to fight hunger.
We are well on our way to our goal of $142,000 three weeks out, with funds of about $130,000 counted, and more on the way until December 31st, 2022. Donations are welcome online here. We exceeded our goal of 16,000 pounds of food and brought in an extra 1000 lb (half-ton) with the biggest drives from Rumson Country Day School at 1628 pounds, and Oak Hill Academy at 1583 pounds. Thank you for leading the way, and thanks to all who delivered cars full of food to fill the shelves at local pantries all over Monmouth County.
Our Art contest had some outstanding banners and posters, from 1st graders to high school teens. 1st place trophy winning banners were created by 3rd grade RB Primary, RCDS Middle School, and RBRegHS High School! And many excellent posters were created, with Holmdel Scout Troop entering as 6 & 7-year-olds.
There was wonderful music by the Wag, tables with information on CWS kits for disaster relief, climate refugees, and Clean Water Action, CROP Cricut gear (big sellers were caps, and wine bags), refreshments from Delicious Orchards, Sickles, and Super Foodtown of RB and lots of good community spirit. That just about sums it up!
THANK YOU to all who participated, as donors, walkers, runners, volunteers, engineers, and police from Little Silver, Red Bank, and Fair Haven. We will return in 2023!
